Marianne

Kind of old-school and clearly nostalgic, I like clothing, objects and songs from the past.

I am said to be warm, attentive and affectionate, friendly. People say I make them feel at ease. And all of which is true : I am not someone you will feel shy with.

Perhaps I inherited :

  • a kind of playfulness from my granddad, Paul-Émile;

  • perhaps, my grandmother, Georgette‘s caring nature ;

  • certainly, my mother’s energy and openness,

  • and the pleasure dad would take in things being well-organized and a job well-done.

Mother to my own baby and 7-and-three-quarter year old, I am fascinated by motherhood and then childhood. I know how quickly time passes. And so, my camera provides me a glimpse of what it would be like to have the power to make time stand still a bit.

My approach

A lover of analogue photography, I have made it a regular practice for more than 20 years. I have a rather classical approach to photography, geared towards the moment captured and the play of light. A family historian of sorts, I document daily lives and special events. My intention is always to allow people to admire, feel, even touch their memories. To relive them at will. To hold onto the past.

Sessions with me take place exclusively in natural lighting, at your home or outside somewhere, in places that carry a special significance for you. The “lifestyle” or “documentary” approaches I use, that involve either a bit of direction or only silent observation, allow me to create images both simple and honest. that capture the essence of who you are and how you feel when you are with the ones you love.

With my goodwill and an artistic touch, I create photographs that, like story books, tell of the beauty of people and the moments they share. Little works of art that make memories tangible, to be cherished and passed on.

An unforgettable moment

I worried that our parents would not be able to relax into a photo shoot. But everyone seemed to feel so happy and at ease. You are clearly a master at making people feel at home. I loved the shots of the three of us, and of me with my parents, for all the gentleness in them. And how vibrant the series of us outside!

Your service was excellent throughout, from the initial discussion of what we might be looking for through to the delivery of the finished product in those pretty little boxes and envelopes. Worth every penny!

The whole process itself has become an unforgettable moment that anchors our memory of these times in our lives that will have come and gone far too soon! We feel very lucky to have been able to afford this for ourselves.

So attentive

We were afraid, at the outset, that the shoot would not feel natural and that the result would look staged. But none of those fears were warranted! Marianne was so discrete that she was able to capture a whole series of very authentic moments, and to preserve a kind of spontaneity throughout.

Her approach, delicate and using only natural light, produced terrific results. We especially enjoyed the series taken outside, as well as those of me breastfeeding. They really seem to have captured the essence of the moment. We love the sense of authenticity they convey. The service she provided throughout, and her approach generally, were excellent; personalised and very caring.

Marianne was straightaway able to put everyone at ease, so that the session felt very natural. The finished product is perfect :)

Documentary

I was worried it would just simply be awkward, or uncomfortable and that that would ruin the feeling in the photos. But it is not materialize at all. It was very easy and comfortable.

The photos are a kind of documentary for me. Marianne is an excellent photographer. Professional and down to earth. It was a pleasure having her in my home, documenting those fleeting but magical family moments that mean so much.

I would recommend her a thousand times over. You'll enjoy the experience and the final product. It will be worth every penny.

Reality

We wanted something real, not staged. You were able to make us feel so quickly at home with the process and to capture us on the fly that the reality of our family life really shines through.

You reassured us and just let us be as you took such a number of photos our imperfect but happy family. I can see in them the reality of our everyday lives as a family, laughing even in the face of our rocky and imperfect world. In the play of light and shadow you really found a spotlight for each one of us.

We are already looking forward to the next session!
